Interwoven - Banshee of Savile Row collaborates with artist Eleanor Ekserjian to create their latest runway show at London Fashion Week.

The show saw Eleanor paint live, decorating a coat with brush strokes on the runway.

The collaboration had been a long time coming, with Banshee of Savile Row founder Ruby Slevin posting a heartfelt tribute to Eleanor’s work on the label’s Instagram account.

‘I met Eleanor Ekserjian a few years ago as she came to me as a client and we could quickly see that we were kindred spirits as our love of art and craft was aligned,’ the designer explained, before revealing how she gave Eleanor some Donegal tweed and Irish linen swatches to inspire the artist during her Hauser & Wirth residency in Scotland. The finished canvases were then hung on the walls of the Messum’s Gallery for Saturday’s runway show.

Slevin continued: ‘I could see these paintings, which are like jewels, becoming textiles to make clothes. The rest became a call and response to each other's work and way of working and the collection is very much inspired by our collaboration as I had her paintings in my mind when I was designing the body of work for ‘INTERWOVEN’.’

The designer was not the only one to support Eleanor after the show. Sam Chatto took to Instagram to share a video of his girlfriend painting on a white coat, worn by a model standing on the runway. At a celebration post-show, Eleanor was photographed holding bouquets of flowers wearing a sophisticated purple blazer from the label.
